Choose Colin Norgate and you’re buying a beautiful piece of woodwork from one of the UK’s most talented craftsmen.

Whether you decide on a bowl, a honey dipper or a cufflinks box from my ready-to-buy range, or commission a glorious sideboard or table and chairs, you know you will have something special. You’ll love the feel, the shape, the finish of the wood, and the personal touch that goes into every piece. As a rare designer-maker, I carry out every step myself, from design to selecting the timber to crafting the finished product. What will you choose?

Colin Norgate is a designer and maker of exquisite furniture and objects in wood.

Thirty five years of working in wood have made him one of the UK’s finest practitioners. His training included a five-year apprenticeship at the Edward Barnsley Workshops, with a further eight years as a craftsman in these renowned workshops.

He is a holder of a Guild Mark (229) awarded by The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.

Colin brings the same passion and incredible skill to his work whether he is creating a simple chopping board or a lavish one-off commission. Each piece is made from timber he has carefully selected.

He creates sculptural turnings and letter carving, and runs woodturning courses tailored to your needs. In addition, he can offer short courses in working with wood.

Previous commissions include offertory plates for Portsmouth Cathedral, other ecclesiastical fittings, furniture and turning in private collections, work for the Lord Chancellor’s Apartment … and pieces for ordinary homes across Britain.
