The Festival of Crafts 2025

The Festival of Crafts 2025 is well worth revisiting in 2025 – after exhibiting in 2024.

I am pleased to be accepted again this year……… You will find me and my exhibits in the Barley Room (first floor)

Before I had not exhibited my pieces at this event since 2008!  I have realized a lot has changed since then?

My pieces………..

My pieces – Yes certain pieces are classics and will be around for many years to come…….. (I hope), others have developed in their ergonomics by listening to my clients….. How they use my pieces and what features they would like to be part of their pieces.

Whether a product or a special commissioned piece – this is important to me…….

The selection of timber

Selection of timber has always been at the forefront of my work – for instance – all my larger scooped boards / larger round boards are taken from as near as possible to the centre board of the tree. On Oak – you will see the distinctive medullary rays on the Square and all Rectangular Boards.

This achieves the best chance of stability in the future use of your board…….. These boards are also just a single piece of wood (not going to delaminate – boards glued with strips to make up the width!) The Meat Board or largest Rectangular Board are from an Oak tree approaching a metre in diameter.

The other change to one of my signature pieces of work – the lattice range  – the use of the combination of timbers within the piece. (Traditional but with a contemporary twist.) The majority of my lattice work is commissioned to the clients surroundings.

Another update since I showed at The Festival of Crafts all those years ago – is the majority of my coloured bowls now have a natural timber interior to compliment the ceramic looking exterior finish.
